Project Manager - Operations

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our client's team as a Project Manager directly reporting to our Senior Leadership team. The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering projects that span across various business units, assist in business development, manage internal resources, interact with vendors, etc. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery.

The Project Manager has the authority to run the projects on a day-to-day basis as well as verify that the project produces the required deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve additional financial benefits through increased productivity, on-time project delivery and increased the overall profitability of the project.

  •   Manage new and existing projects that span one or more line of business.

  •   Develop reports and analysis of market and industry trends and provide

    recommendations on development strategy.

  •   Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full

    implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives


  •   Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned

    to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.

  •   Report to Vice Chairman on project success criteria results, metrics, test and

    deployment activities.

  •   Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating

    teamwork, innovation, and excellence.

  •   Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.

  •   Prepare estimates, detailed project plan and schedule of values for all phases of the project.

  •   Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.

  •   Manage the day-to-day project activities, resources, and meetings.

  •   Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks

and issues.

  •   Understand differences in communication and infrastructure technology.

  •   Manage project scope and changes.

  •   Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.

  •   Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract.

  •   Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning,

    external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and


  •   Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

  •   Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and

    critical path deliverables.

  •   Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.

  •   Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques.

  •   Establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.


  •   5+ years of project management or consulting experience in paper and/or pulp mill in Kraft pulp, containerboard, and/or packaging.

  •   Industry expertise in the recycled containerboard industry

  •   Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

  •   Experience with full project life cycle with an understanding of development life cycle and various technology methodologies that support that life cycle.

  •   Experience with mergers & acquisitions, in due diligence and integration, are a plus.

  •   Greenfield project/construction of new mill experiences are a plus.

  •   Strong organizational, leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills.

  •   Proven organizational, leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation)

    and interpersonal skills.

  •   Proven experience estimating, performing take-offs and assisting staff in creating

project proposals.

  •   Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs.

  •   Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple

    areas in order to achieve a common business objective.

  •   Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and

    identifying priorities.
