Asset Manager - Converting

The Converting Asset Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of converting equipment in assigned area. Responsible for results and all activities in their assigned area including meeting safety, quality, and production goals, optimizing equipment run schedules, environmental compliance, training and development of supervisors and hourly employees, and employee scheduling. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership and influence others to achieve targeted results.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maximize production efficiencies while maintaining safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards
  • Identify opportunities implement changes to drive improvement in assigned these areas. This person must embrace change and be able to move this process forward throughout the organization
  • Responsible for setting goals and delivering results that support key department and company objectives including managing overtime and staffing levels
  • Develop and specify programs and activities to improve operational performance and lower equipment maintenance and operating cost. Approve and prioritize all maintenance work activity and equipment modifications in area
  • Oversight of all product development activities in area – includes managing the timing of changes, ensuring manufacturing system updates are timely and accurate, managing all phases from trials through commercialization
  • Develop mutually beneficial working relationships with other Converting managers and managers from other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS A ND ABILITIES

Demonstrated commitment to and improvement in safety results

  • Current knowledge of paper converting equipment including winder, folders, saws, wrappers, and case packers
  • Experience implementing Lean Management systems
  • Ability to lead teams in a cooperative and inspirational manner
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Ability to develop strategic plans to ensure continuous improvement of business results.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering or manufacturing technical training preferred
  • 3 years of supervision experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 6 years of experience in paper converting environment/5 plus years of Industrial Manufacturing experience
  • Bachelors of Engineering or Paper Science Degree preferred
